Second Venture Press Releases-
Angel Investors in Philadelphia meet Start-up Companies
FundingPost introduces over a hundred early-stage companies to Local Angel Investors
For Immediate Release:
PHILADELPHIA, PA (June 16, 2004) – On June 17, Leading Angel Investors are set to speak at the FundingPost “Angels in Philadelphia” event, sponsored by Wolf Block. While most Investor events deal with Venture Capitalists, this event will give the early-stage companies a chance to meet local Private Investors.
The FundingPost Event Calendar and registration information are available online:

After finishing up 7 sold-out events earlier this month in Texas and Florida where an Angel Investor sat on each Panel, FundingPost decided to put together an event focused specifically on Start-ups. The panelists for the event include:
- Ellen Sandles, Executive Director, Tri-State Private Investors Network
- Howard Morgan, Angel Investor, New York Angels
- Tim Reese, Founding Member, Minority Angel Investor Network
- Tami Fratis, Fund Manager, Murex Investments
- George Marks, Angel Investor, Robin Hood Ventures
- Chris Starr, VP of Investments, Innovation Philadelphia
- Josh Kopelman, Private Investor
- Jay Coogan, Partner, Wolf Block
- Moderator: David Gitlin, Chair Corporate/Securities, Wolf Block
Following the breakfast presentation, 6 companies will have the opportunity to “pitch” the entire panel and additional Angels. “It’s a rare and great opportunity for a start-up to get to spend 15 minutes pitching a room full of Angels and Seed Investors,” said Joe Rubin, Director, FundingPost. “After the ‘bubble’ burst a few years ago, Angel investors shied away from these opportunities. We now see many Angel Investors coming back in full force looking for great ideas.”
FundingPost works hard to introduce promising Entrepreneurs to Investors at every event nationwide. "Venture Capital is alive and well in the Greater Philadelphia area and the money is burning a hole in our pocket -- for the next great business,” said Bruce Luehrs, Edison Venture Fund, who spoke at our last Philadelphia event. “Congratulations on a successful event! It is encouraging to see such a large group of entrepreneurs turn out."
